These incredibly beautiful images by artist Christy Lee Rogers are created without the aid of Photoshop, with carefully lit models, in water, at night.
Not the first to use the medium of water — the seminal video artist Bill Viola springs to mind — Rogers has refined the process to achieve an astounding painterly quality.
The tenebrist technique has lead to numerous comparisons with the baroque master Caravaggio, although her use of color and the distortion caused by the water's surface also brings to mind the work of El Greco.
Her latest collection "Of Smoke and Gold" will be on display at the Galeria de Arte AFK, Lisbon, Portugal from November 2nd – 30th.
